Internet Offender Programme

A number of people who come to SAFE for treatment of their sexual offending problems have offended online (on the Internet).  Examples of on-line or so called “cyber-offending” are; the viewing, trading, or production of child pornography, and using online technologies to access and victimise children and young people, such as grooming victims in chat rooms and on mobile phones.

SAFE runs a specifically designed and tailored programme for people who have committed on-line offences, along side of its other treatment programmes.

Referrals to this programme may be made by the client, or via the Courts, Department of Corrections, CYFS, health professional, or family.

Note: All adult clients must identify at least one family member or support person who is willing to be in contact with SAFE and the client throughout the duration of their therapy.  SAFE staff will be able to discuss this at the time of referral.

The key outcomes SAFE expects clients to achieve from the programme are:

  • To commit no further offences of any kind
  • To accept full responsibility for their offending
  • To be accepted as a safe, responsible member of their family
  • To be able to make safe intimate relationships
  • To live a safe and healthy lifestyle
