In this report Professor Gluckman notes that: "Social investment in New Zealand should take more account of the growing evidence that prevention and intervention strategies applied early in life are more effective in altering outcomes and reap more returns over the life course than do preventions and interventions (or punitive) strategies applied later". SAFEs Early Intervention Service for children is an example of the success of such interventions.

Government Releases Important Green Paper into the Care and Protection of Vulnerable Children
The paper notes that "every hour, two children in this country are physically, sexually or emotionally abused.
We wholeheartedly encourage you to read this paper and e to submit your views on how we can improve outcomes for our children...this is probably the most important contribution you can make to ensuring that in the future every child has the very best chance to "thrive, achieve and belong".
